I am appalled of Disability Service/Transition Center at QCC (Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester, MA)
I was asked to be tutor, I was fine until one day I haven't tutor yet... I asked them when... but the woman of Transition Center told me it won't be fair to other tutors who was there longer...
Huh?
She promised me soon... she sent me schedule every week... I waited.
Two students asked me for help. I told them exact what she told me... After that, I get "blame" and "point finger". Whoever told the person who hired me that I have little time for tutor. I have one and half hour to tutor.
What's going on?
They thought I made two students to get me back to work.
Huh?
I didn't. Two students know me because I was Teacher's aide at Elementary School... What's more, I know American Sign Language. They need that. They need my help because the Transition Center can't. Yes, there is one person knows ASL there but the whole point is education itself... I can understand the book which they have hard time to. There is limited available to get interpreter... which mean the student have to find time to make "appointment" the problem is that if the paper is due on the next day. They can't get help fast enough. Or test in two days and the student still is not understand the contents in the textbook.
I know several of them failed because of it. Unlike NECC (Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, MA) when student needs help, they get interpreter ready. If enter in tutor center and needs one, got one in minutes. The trouble is that NECC is way far up north in east than QCC which is in center of the state.
The woman stopped sending me schedule and removed my name off the tutor list WITHOUT tell me why. They did that behind my back. I want to know why.
That is not right. They can't do that to me and the deaf students. They failed to get me to work with the students. The students came to me and I can't say no to them. They need help. Education is important. I worked with them since until the semester end without PAID. I considered education is more important than being paid.
I did asked the students why... their responds- little signing. I don't understand. One of them wasn't helping me and insulted me to find the answer, I am not comfortable with them, etc...
Sigh, totally disappointed with the services at QCC.

Delta Airline
Today, I went to Boston to put my grandma on the plane but something happened.
I asked to get new ticket for next available plane. Knowing my grandma is deaf and can't read, I requested for an assistant for my grandma on her flight to other state when I found out it is not non-stop flight. There is one change.
Guess what? "No," they said, they won't help her with her transfer.
Boing!
No handicapped assistant??? Forget it, I said, get me non-stop flight since you won't help her.
What kind of Delta service is that?!?!?
